Owner and principal designer Michelle “Elle” Woeller comes from a family of artists, architects and furniture makers, and her enthusiasm for exceptional design began as a child, where she would spend hours at her father’s drawing board, sketching floor plans of her own. Her early love of beautiful outdoor spaces was also instilled by her parents, both of whom were avid gardeners.
Upon earning a degree in fashion buying and merchandising from Seattle Pacific University, where she also studied interior design, Elle worked in retail and product design. In 2006, Elle joined her husband at his landscaping company where she became the firm’s lead landscape designer, collaborating with him on residential and commercial projects throughout Cape Cod and Massachusetts.
In 2013, Elle combined her education, lifelong passion for interior design and experience in landscape design when she founded Summerland Homes & Gardens.
Since then, Elle and her team have worked with discerning homeowners throughout Massachusetts, transforming both year-round and seasonal homes. While spaces for a year-round home may be more reflective of the New England vernacular, and a beach house more the embodiment of seaside fun, Elle’s designs always honor her clients’ personal aesthetics and classic coastal style.
Elle has won numerous Best of Houzz awards, and several of her projects have been featured in stories on the online home-design forum. She participated in House Beautiful’s “One Room Challenge,” in which she transformed a dining room in six weeks while blogging about the process throughout.
As one of the only design professionals on Cape Cod specializing in both interior and outdoor spaces, clients have come to rely on Elle’s ability to establish a sense of continuity throughout a home. When working simultaneously on both areas of a client’s property, she can create a seamless connection between their indoor and outdoor spaces.
